This page shows our first wedding, which was
a civic one in the Mairie at Vérčne’s parents' home village of Montaud,
near Montpellier in the south of France on 3 August 2002.
Air
France lost our baggage for a week, so Alastair's son, Adam, brought out
one of his kilts in the MacLennan tartan of Alastair's father's mother's
clan. It is in the ancient style of "great" kilt, which entailed
quite a procedure for getting it on. Vérčne borrowed a dress from her mother which
is in the traditional style of the region.
About
100 friends and family were there. We walked down to the Marie (town
hall), had a simple ceremony, then spent a lovely evening with all manner
of food and creative entertainment back at the house.
