In the past few months, most of my work has taken place in Govan under the umbrella of the Govan Folk University and the Govan Together project. As a result i have not been in a position to run public events in nonviolent communication. The last ones took place in April on the theme of "Staying Centred and Making Choices in Conflict Situations" and in May on the theme of "Stay True to Yourself and maintain Connection with Others". I am planning to organise events open to the public in the Spring (March/April). Please contact me to register interest. I also run a montly practice group in Edinburgh which is presently closed to new members. It might be open again in the Spring. Please note that I am not a Center for Nonviolent Communication certified trainer although i am hoping to become certified in the near future. I have been practicing and learning nonviolent communication for several years. I assist certified trainers on a regular basis and am part of several peer-learning activities. Running retreats is a new addition to my portfolio and my vision is to properly expand in this work during 2012. This journey started when I got invited to run a weekend workshop in 2010 at the Coachhouse, a retreat house on the Black Isle (north of Scotland) where I have spent several silent retreats since moving to Scotland. As part of my preparations, i came across the work of Parker Palmer, an American Quaker and Educator and read "A Hidden Wholeness - The Journey Toward an Individed Life". His approach profoundly resonated with my own spiritual journey and my practice as a facilitator. The workshop I led then was inspired by his work and rooted in my years of experience facilitating transformative learning spaces. I run another successful workshop titled "Journey towards Wholeness" last October at the Coachhouse. My vision is to create a programme of retreats open to people from faith communities in Scotland (and anyone in search for more 'soul' and integrity in their life) and use my skills to facilitate 'journeys towards wholeness' in various settings. This vision is at an embryonic stage. |
